Meat & Potatoes is Chef and Owner Richard DeShantz’s first restaurant. It opened in 2011 as Pittsburgh’s first gastropub and launched what is now the Richard DeShantz Restaurant Group, which includes some of Downtown Pittsburgh’s most talked-about restaurants and bars.

Meat & Potatoes is known for elevated American comfort food, including tomahawk steaks, Wagyu, and the legendary Pub Burger. Paired with a Prohibition-era bar program, it is a true Downtown Pittsburgh dining destination.

Meat & Potatoes is open nightly for dinner. Hours change seasonally, so we recommend checking our current hours or booking directly through our website before your visit.

You’ll find us at 649 Penn Avenue in the heart of Pittsburgh’s Cultural District, directly across from Heinz Hall and steps from the Benedum Center. This makes us a favorite Downtown destination for dinner before or after a show.

Yes. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially before shows. Walk-ins are welcome as space allows.

Yes. Meat & Potatoes offers two private dining rooms that can accommodate up to 16 guests.

There is an eight-story parking garage in our building that is open 24 hours a day, along with several additional garages and parking lots within a few blocks. Our Downtown location is also easily accessible by Pittsburgh Regional Transit.

Start with the Parker House rolls or bone marrow, then try the tomahawk steak or Pub Burger. Save room for one of our thoughtfully crafted cocktails.
